Where to get legal advice ?
Well, there are literally thousands of law firms in the Uk. In addition to this there are Citizen’s Advice bureaus and Law Centres in many cities.
If considering instructing a solicitor, we would recommend meeting any solicitor before instructing him or her. Legal matters are inherently important, you need to ensure you have the right rapport with any prospective lawyer and that you feel comfortable with that person. Make sure you ask about their specific experience of your type of matter, potentially ask for references, find out as much as you can. In our experience, whilst there are many “old school” lawyewrs still who bnehave quite arrogantly and as though you should do what they say as they know best, there is a new generation who understand that clients have a choice and that service, respect for clients and quality of advice are all very important. Try to be aware that in many cases lawyers are not necessarily being difficult. The lawyer is there to represent you but they also have strict professional rules to comply with and this can seem annoying or unhelpful at times, but ultimately protects you.
In terms of some lawyers you may want to approach, without offering any recommendation, we list some below that may be useful for you.
